Mission Statement

The Great Commission

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:16-20

Statement of Beliefs

1. We believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God's truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matter of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16; Mark 7:13; John 10:35)

2. We believe in the Holy Trinity. There is one God, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Matt 28:19; Eph 4:4-6; Acts 2:21, 33)

3. We believe that all are sinners and totally unable to save themselves from God's displeasure over sin. Salvation is only a result of His mercy. (John 3:20; Heb 11:6; Rom 3:23-31)

4. We believe that salvation is by God alone as He sovereignly chooses those He will save. We believe His choice is based on His grace, not on any human individual merit, or foreseen faith. (John 1:9-13; 3:7-8, 16, 21; 15:16; Rom 3:23-31; 9:14-16)

5. We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who through His perfect life and sacrificial death atoned for the sins of all who will trust in Him alone for salvation. (John 1:1, 29; 8:58; Acts 4:12; 2 Peter 2:22; Isaiah 53:4-6)

6. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells God's people and gives them the strength and wisdom to trust Christ and follow Him. (Eph 1:13-14)

7. We believe that Jesus will return, bodily and visibly, to judge all mankind and to receive His people to Himself. (Acts 1:11; 2 Tim 4:1; Titus 2:11-14)

8. We believe that all aspects of our lives are to be lived to the glory of God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. (1 Cor 10:31; Gal 5:25; John 14:15)

These statements represent the core essentials of our faith as given in God's word, the Bible. As a part of the Presbyterian Church in America we stand in a long stream of Christian faith with roots that run through the Protestant Reformation of the 1500s to the days of the Apostles and the ministry of Jesus. We find the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms to be helpful tools in understanding and maintaining the purity of our faith and practice as followers of Jesus. Nevertheless, our ultimate loyalty is to the Scriptures and, therefore, the Bible is the final authority on all matters of faith and practice.
